Ask most eCommerce brands about their SEO programme and they will describe a blog. Ask them when they last rewrote a category page and you will usually get a pause.
This is backwards. Category pages sit on the highest commercial intent queries in your entire site architecture, and they typically convert at three to six times the rate of blog traffic.
A rebuilt category page needs four things: an intent matched H1 and introduction that answers the query before the grid, faceted navigation that generates crawlable and valuable combinations while blocking the rest, supporting content placed below the products rather than above them, and internal links that pass authority from your content to your commercial pages rather than in circles.
