Walmart Marketplace Management for Sellers Who Want the Second Channel to Work

The Problem

Walmart seller challenges we solve

Walmart rewards different things than Amazon does, and most sellers arrive having copied an Amazon playbook that does not transfer.

Low listing quality score

Missing attributes, short titles and no rich media. The score is a ranking input and most sellers never look at it.

Amazon content pasted across

Titles built to Amazon conventions and character limits, which read badly and rank badly on Walmart.

Losing the Buy Box on price

Walmart is more price-sensitive in its algorithm than sellers expect, and repricing rules were never adapted.

Missing delivery standards

On-time delivery and cancellation rates below standard, quietly suppressing visibility across the whole catalog.

Walmart Connect left on autopilot

One automatic campaign, no manual coverage on head terms, and search-term data nobody reviews.

Catalog and item setup problems

Failed items, unpublished SKUs and variant groups that never assembled properly after upload.

Thin content and no rich media

A single image, no comparison content and no video, against competitors who have all three.

WFS decisions made on instinct

Walmart Fulfillment Services adopted or avoided without modelling the fee, delivery-speed and visibility effects.

No review velocity

Reviews imported nowhere and requested never, so new items launch into a category where everyone else has social proof.

No view of channel profitability

Referral fees, WFS charges, returns and shipping living outside the reporting, so nobody knows what the channel earns.

Scorecard surprises

Seller performance warnings discovered after visibility drops rather than when the metric started drifting.

Treated as an afterthought

One person managing Walmart alongside their real job, so it gets attention only when something breaks.

What We Do

Our Walmart Marketplace services

Eight services covering the whole channel. On Walmart, listing quality and seller performance gate everything else, so that is where we start.

01

Seller Center operations, item setup, pricing and the weekly rhythm that keeps the channel healthy.

02

Listing & Catalog Management

Item setup, attributes, variant groups and catalog hygiene at scale.

03

Keyword research and organic visibility built around Walmart search behaviour and listing quality scoring.

04

Sponsored Products, Sponsored Brands and Display — structure, targeting, bids and search-term discipline.

05

Imagery, enhanced content, comparison graphics and video produced for Walmart’s templates.

06

Listing effectiveness, offer presentation and the levers that actually move Walmart conversion rate.

07

Fulfillment & WFS Strategy

WFS versus seller-fulfilled modelling, delivery speed badges and inventory placement.

08

Channel profitability, Walmart Luminate where available, and the scaling decisions that follow.

Selling on Amazon too? Most of our clients run both. See our Amazon agency page, or all platforms we support.

Operations

Marketplace account & store management

The weekly operational work. On Walmart it is more consequential than on most marketplaces, because seller performance directly suppresses visibility.

Same operating model as our eCommerce management service, applied to Walmart Seller Center.

Catalog

Product listings & catalog optimization

Walmart scores every listing on content quality and uses it as a ranking and eligibility input. That score is the most direct lever available to a seller.

Product Discovery

Listing Content

Catalog

Optimization

Listing quality score is the closest thing Walmart gives sellers to a scoreboard. We treat it as one.

Organic

Walmart SEO & organic visibility

Organic placement on Walmart is driven by relevance, listing quality, price competitiveness and fulfillment speed together. Optimising only for keywords misses most of it.

Marketplace search and web search are different disciplines. Our web methodology is on the eCommerce SEO page.

Paid

Walmart Connect advertising & paid growth

Walmart Connect is less crowded than Amazon advertising and frequently cheaper per click, which makes structure discipline more valuable, not less.

Our wider paid media methodology sits on the PPC & paid advertising page.

Creative

Product content & marketplace creative

Walmart’s rich media modules are underused by most sellers, which makes them a cheap differentiator in a lot of categories.

Conversion

Conversion & marketplace performance optimization

You do not control checkout, so optimization means everything upstream of it. On Walmart, price and delivery speed sit inside conversion rather than beside it.

Price & Trust

Alignment

Walmart weights price competitiveness and delivery speed heavily. Optimising content while ignoring those two is the most common wasted effort on this channel.

Health

Marketplace operations & seller performance

The monitoring layer. On Walmart, seller performance standards suppress visibility across the whole catalog, so this is not administrative work.

How It Works

Our Walmart growth process

Six steps. The audit covers the whole channel, because on Walmart the constraint is often seller performance rather than anything a marketer would look at first.

01

Audit

Account, catalog, listing quality, SEO, advertising, content, fulfillment and scorecard reviewed together. You keep the document either way.

02

Research

Keyword, competitor and price-position research, plus a profitability model with referral fees, WFS charges and returns in it.

03

Build the Strategy

A twelve-month plan with a detailed first ninety days, named owners, target metrics and the sequence work will run in.

04

Optimize & Implement

Catalog, listing quality and content first, so advertising spends against items that can rank and convert.

05

Advertise & Grow

Walmart Connect restructure, targeting and bid work, with search-term discipline run weekly.

06

Monitor & Scale

Scorecard and performance monitoring, then scaling into what proved out — more items, WFS expansion, or more marketplaces.

Fixing advertising before listing quality is the most common expensive mistake on Walmart, because low-quality listings are capped on visibility no matter what you bid.

Why Us

Why choose us for Walmart Marketplace

Eight reasons you can check rather than take on trust. Ask us for evidence on any of them.

Marketplace-Focused Expertise

Marketplaces are their own discipline. Walmart is its own discipline again, and we do not treat it as Amazon with a different logo.

Management + Marketing Under One Team

Catalog, listing quality, content and advertising in one place, so the fix and the campaign change land in the same week.

We Manage the Score

Listing quality and seller scorecard are tracked as primary metrics, not as compliance chores mentioned in a footnote.

Data-Driven Optimization

Search-term reports, item-level conversion and price-position data drive decisions rather than category folklore.

Content and Advertising Integrated

The creative team sees the search-term data. The ads team sees the conversion data. That is the whole point.

Ongoing Optimization

Weekly cycles on search terms, listings and scorecard rather than a quarterly review that finds problems late.

Transparent Reporting

Contribution after referral fees, WFS charges, returns and COGS — a less flattering number and a more useful one.

Multi-Marketplace Capability

Walmart alongside Amazon, eBay, Etsy and the regional marketplaces, on one catalog strategy and one forecast.

FAQs

Walmart Marketplace FAQs

Eight questions that come up in most Walmart conversations. More on our full FAQ page.

You can, and it is the single most common reason Walmart channels underperform. Title conventions, character limits, attribute schemas and the content that earns a good listing quality score are all different. Ingesting the Amazon feed gets you live; it does not get you visible. The rebuild is usually the highest-return work in the first ninety days.

It is Walmart’s composite measure of content completeness, offer competitiveness, ratings and post-purchase performance. It affects search placement and eligibility for some programmes. It is also the closest thing to a scoreboard a Walmart seller gets, and unlike most ranking factors you can see it and act on it directly.

It depends on your margins, your existing 3PL costs, your delivery speed without it, and how much the delivery badge is worth in your category. We model it rather than assume it. WFS often wins on visibility and conversion; it does not always win on contribution, and for some catalogs the answer is a split.

In most categories it is less competitive and cheaper per click, which makes it attractive for sellers who are being priced out of Amazon advertising. The inventory is smaller, so it will not replace Amazon volume, but the efficiency is frequently better and the structure discipline transfers directly.

Listing quality and catalog work show inside 30 to 60 days, because the score updates and visibility follows. Advertising restructures show in 30 days. Scorecard recovery depends on the metric window, typically 60 to 90 days. We will tell you which of these your account needs before you sign anything.

Yes. Item setup, spec-file work, failed-item diagnosis and variant group assembly are part of catalog management. On most accounts we take on there is a backlog of unpublished items nobody has worked through, and clearing it is usually free revenue.

Yes, and most of our clients do. One catalog strategy, one forecast and one team, with the channel differences respected rather than flattened. See our Amazon page or all platforms.

You do, always. We work under our own user permissions inside your account. If the relationship ends, we remove our access and everything — listings, creative, campaigns, documentation — stays with you.
