Etsy Fee Calculator
Etsy takes money in six separate ways on a single order, and most sellers only remember two of them. This works out all six from what you charge and where your bank account is, then tells you what is actually left after the materials, the label and the packaging. Rates checked against Etsy’s own fee pages on 11 October 2026.

On Etsy the fee that surprises people is never the listing fee. It is the 6.5% transaction fee applying to the shipping you charged as well as the item.

What Etsy takes, line by line
Seven inputs. The country field is the one that matters most — it sets both your payment processing rate and whether you pay a regulatory operating fee at all.

Rates checked 11 October 2026 against Etsy's own fee pages. Etsy changes these, so confirm anything that matters on Etsy's fee page before you price a product on it. All amounts are in your own shop currency, except the few countries where Etsy states the fixed part of the processing fee in USD. This does not include Etsy Ads, shipping label purchases, Etsy Plus at $10 a month, Pattern at $15 a month, or any sales tax or VAT on fees, because those sit outside a single order.

The listing fee is not the problem
Sellers fixate on the 20 cents and ignore the percentage that applies to the shipping they charged.
On a $30 item with $6 shipping, the listing fee is $0.20 — about half a percent of the order. The transaction fee is $2.34, because 6.5% applies to the $36 total and not just the item. Payment processing adds $1.33. So Etsy takes $3.87, and the listing fee everyone complains about is 5% of that. Raising your price by a dollar earns you more than obsessing over listing renewals ever will.
The line that does bite is Offsite Ads. At 15% of the whole order it is larger than every other Etsy fee put together, and once your shop passes $10,000 in sales over 365 days you cannot opt out — the rate drops to 12% and stays there for the life of the shop. On a $36 order that is $5.40 on top of the $3.87 you were already paying. Etsy caps it at $100 per order, which only helps if you sell expensive things. Tick the Offsite Ads box above and watch the margin move; that is the number worth planning around.
- Put gift wrap and personalisation charges in the shipping field — Etsy’s fees apply to them
- Use what the label actually costs you, not what you charged the buyer
- Re-run it with Offsite Ads on, because past $10k you cannot turn it off

- Getting it wrong
Four ways Etsy profit gets overstated
Each of these leaves a cost out of the per-order figure, and each is easy to do.
Forgetting that fees apply to shipping
The 6.5% transaction fee, the payment processing percentage and any regulatory operating fee all apply to the item price plus the shipping you charged, including gift wrap and personalisation. Sellers who work out fees on the item price alone understate them every single time.
Treating shipping as covered by the buyer
What you charge for postage and what the label costs are different numbers, and on heavier items the gap is where the margin went. Put both in above: what you charged in the shipping field, what it costs you in the cost field.
Ignoring the listing fee on items that never sell
The 20 cents is charged when you list and again every four months when the listing renews, whether or not anything sold. A shop with 200 listings and a 2% sell-through is paying for 196 renewals to get four sales. The calculator above charges it once per order, which is the optimistic reading — divide your real monthly listing spend by your real monthly orders if you want the honest one.
Forgetting your own time
Handmade sellers routinely price materials and postage and value their labour at zero. If an item takes forty minutes to make and pack, put something in the other-cost field for it. A margin that only works because nobody is paid is not a margin.
Our eCommerce profit margin calculator handles the same question across a whole catalogue rather than one order, and the average order value calculator helps if the answer is that you need bigger baskets rather than higher prices.

Etsy fee FAQs
The questions this calculator usually raises.
How much does Etsy take per sale?
For a US seller with no Offsite Ads, roughly 10 to 11% of the order total: a 20 cent listing fee, 6.5% transaction fee, and 3% plus 25 cents payment processing. A UK seller pays about 11 to 12%, because processing is 4% plus 20p and there is a 0.48% regulatory operating fee on top. Add Offsite Ads and it jumps to 25% or more. The calculator above gives your own figure rather than an average.
What are all the Etsy seller fees?
Six on a typical order: a $0.20 listing fee per listing, a 6.5% transaction fee, payment processing that varies by country, a regulatory operating fee in nine countries, a 2.5% currency conversion fee if your listing and payment currencies differ, and Offsite Ads at 15% or 12% on attributed orders. Outside the order there is Etsy Ads if you run them, shipping labels, Etsy Plus at $10 a month, Pattern at $15 a month, and in some places tax on the fees themselves.
Does Etsy charge fees on shipping?
Yes, and this is the one that catches people. The 6.5% transaction fee, your payment processing percentage and any regulatory operating fee all apply to the item price plus the shipping you charged, including gift wrap and personalisation. Free shipping does not avoid it either — it just moves the same amount into the item price, where the same percentages apply.
Can I avoid the Offsite Ads fee?
Only while your shop is small. Shops under $10,000 USD in sales over the previous 365 days can opt out in Shop Manager. Once you cross that threshold the 15% rate drops to 12% but participation becomes mandatory, and Etsy states the 12% rate then applies for the life of the shop even if sales fall back. Etsy caps the fee at $100 on any single attributed order. Plan for it rather than hope to avoid it.
What is the regulatory operating fee?
A percentage Etsy charges in countries where it faces digital services taxes or similar costs, applied to the item price plus shipping. As of 11 October 2026 Etsy lists it for nine countries: Canada 0.50%, France 1.14%, Hungary 1.97%, India 0.05%, Italy 0.80%, Spain 0.88%, Türkiye 1.67%, the UK 0.48% and Vietnam 1.24%. Pick your country above and it is applied automatically. Etsy has changed these rates more than once, so check before you rely on them.
Is Etsy Plus worth $10 a month?
It depends entirely on your listing count. Etsy Plus is $10 a month and includes 15 listing credits, which Etsy values at $3, plus $5 of Etsy Ads credit. So you are paying $10 for about $8 of credits and some shop customisation. If you would have spent that on listings and ads anyway it roughly washes; if you would not, it is a $120-a-year cost for features you did not need. It sits outside this calculator because it is monthly rather than per order.

Selling well and still not making money?
On Etsy that is usually pricing that never accounted for the shipping percentage, or Offsite Ads arriving at 15% once a shop starts working. The free audit reads your real numbers and says which it is.
